Fundraising Partner Profile: Andie Petkus Photography
VENDOR TYPE: Photography
NAME: Andie Petkus
COMPANY: Andie Petkus Photography
We like working with Andie because:
Andie understands nonprofit events and gets the shots that will give life to the event long after its over. She’ll get the sponsor, major donor and key guest photos for use in cultivation later, and she also captures the true experience of the event so that it’s well documented.
What do you do?
Photograph all types of events! I also take headshots in my studio or on location.
Why do you work with nonprofit events?
They are my favorite clients and I want to help their events be successful. I was a fundraiser for almost 15 years before I started my photography business and I understand what nonprofits need.
What inspires you about a good event?
I like to see people having a really good time while supporting a really good cause.
What is your favorite moment at an event?
I like the paddle raise during an auction. So long as people aren’t eating while they are bidding I can get some really cute photos.
What brings you the most joy in your work?
I like taking photos. I enjoy being at the events surrounded by people who care about the community. I have made many friends just through seeing them at events.
What is the one piece of wisdom you would give to a development team working on their big event?
’Perception is reality.’ If your guests perceive that the event is going smoothly and raising lots of money, that is how they will talk about it to their friends. Events can ‘fake it ‘til they make it.’ If volunteers and staff look frazzled and aren’t helpful—guests will think the event didn’t go well, even if it raised lots of money. They won’t invite friends to an event they don’t feel was well run.
